Ginetta releases official renderings of new G55 — Autoblog

Ginetta G55 sketch

The Ginetta G50 has so far been the star of the Ginetta GT Supercup, a one-make support series for the British Touring Car Championship. There's a brighter star on the way next year, though, when Ginetta introduces the G55.

Ginetta is one of those car companies like TVR that I always root for. They seem like just a notch above kit car maker, and I like that sort of spunky energy.

Ford Announces Launch Markets for Focus Electric - Car and Driver Blog

Man, no love for the DFW on the EV front again.
Always Boston and Austin .. And NY and LA..

Didn't they notice that all the other EVs will be there first? I would think you would want to be first or go somewhere you can own it...

MotoCzysz unveils D1g1tal Dr1ve D1, we enthuse — Autoblog Green

D1g1tal Dr1ve D1 – Click above for high-res image gallery

Electric-drive design genius has a name: MotoCzysz. The team behind the E1PC electric race bike has taken the elegant essence of that high performance drive system and distilled it down into one compact glossy red box called the D1g1tal Dr1ve D1.

Lift off the top and peek inside this peerless example of packaging and you will find a 75 kW (100 horsepower) Remy motor, a proprietary inverter-controller, a cooling system and a gear reduction setup connected to a differential. The whole thing weighs 130 lbs. and can generate up to 848 ft-lbs (1150Nm) of torque. Yikes!

Now, we knew this was coming. We just didn't know it would look so sexy or arrive so soon. By next May, customers should be able to write a check for an amount somewhere south of $8,999 per unit and prepare to plug the aluminum case into chassis of their choosing.

this is seriously cool.

I like the delorean style font choices.. but more than that.. if electrification of current cars is going to happen via retrofit.. this takes a lot of the way there..

I would love to pop this in a miata.. or old CRX .. anything kind of small and sporty.

It has as much horsepower as my first car, a well loved RX-7, and one of those and this, would cost WAAAY less than a volt or leaf.

A tale of two keys: Boss 302 TracKey unlocks track-ready performance

But for drivers who want just a little more out of their Boss 302, Ford will supply owners with a special TracKey, which automatically tells the powertrain control module – PCM – that the driver wants to experience a competition-ready track experience. The key engages a software upgrade called TracMode on the Boss 302′s PCM that alters more than 200 engine management paramenters, most notably an increase in low-end torque.

I am not a huge Mustang fan, but this seems pretty cool. although I am not sure why I would ever use the "not-awesome" key.

Chevy cruze spotted in the wild?

I saw this in the valet parking area of a hotel in downtown Fort Worth tonight. Not with manufacturer plates, dealer plates or even temporary plates.

On the other side of the street were some other chevy hardware that looked out of place. And the reatta diner down the street was closed for a private function.

So I snapped a few pictures for you to enjoy.

Find of the Day: 1999 Sbarro GT1 show car — Autoblog

1999 Sbarro GT1 show car – Click above for image gallery

GT1 road cars are hard to come by. Manufacturers are required by some motorsport sanctioning bodies to homologate their racecars with production versions, but these often fetch millions of dollars and are only made in extremely limited quantities. All the more so for Sbarro's GT1 show car.

I will be honest, before this article I cannot say I have ever heard of this car. but I must say it looks really great for a car of that vintage. Still, there are other more collectible cars that you could actually sell later without having to explain what it is first that I would pick over this.

Officially Official: BMW confirms Efficient Dynamics production [w/video] — Autoblog

BMW Vision EfficientDynamics prototype

Sure, BMW is going to build a small, urban electric car – the Megacity – in a few years, but we're pretty sure there are a lot of Bimmer drivers who won't much care for that little thing, no matter what the powertrain. For them, BMW has announced a second treat today: the Vision Efficient Dynamics (VED) concept will indeed make the jump to production form.

I would have never guessed this would make it into production. Especially not in a form so close to the concept car.

I am sure I won't be able to afford it.

But I can buy a poster when it does :) *sigh*

Report: Mazda working on next-gen rotary-powered RX-9 — Autoblog

Mazda Kabura concept

According to a report from Autocar, Mazda is currently working on a successor to the old RX-7 and the current RX-8. (We've heard this before. Many times.) Believed to carry the RX-9 nameplate, the next-gen sports car is tipped to ditch the innovative but clumsy quasi-four-door layout of the current RX-8, and that the platform is to be spun off from the MX-5 roadster.

this blogger from autoblog doesn't seem to know too much about rotary power. or what he does know is from articles circa 1973.

oh, and he apparently is unaware that hydrogen fueling stations can be hooked up at your house, and are being built out in CA.

Still I am ready for new rotary offering from Mazda. I hope it doesn't stray too far from the pictured concept car.

Ford offers 168-hp R2 rally kit for Fiesta, announces Fiesta Sport Trophy Championship — Autoblog

Ford Fiesta R2 Rally Kit

After watching this year's X Games and Ken Block's latest Gymkhana 3, it's no secret that the Ford Fiesta can easily be tuned into a potent rally-ready machine. That said, we greatly welcome the automaker's latest Fiesta R2 rally tuning kit, bringing a host of rally-spec mods to the general public.

I know a few people that would like something like this.

I cant believe the press photo is of a boring plain white one. I have become really used to seeing these small cars always shown in an electric green color.

still more horsepower and a tin car cant be that bad.
